1. Scope and controller
This policy applies to stonefernworks.com, Stonefern support interactions, and the current public Stonefern products: Disk Insight, Network Repair, PC Repair, DeskLink, AudioLink, StreamLink, and Subtitle & Audio Cleanup. The operator is Dante Langdon, doing business as Stonefern Works.
2. Product data and network behavior
Disk Insight processes storage information locally. Scanned filenames and paths, scan results, history, settings, and exports are not uploaded to Stonefern merely because you use the product.
Network Repair reads Windows network configuration locally. When you run connectivity diagnostics, the product intentionally sends limited traffic such as gateway pings, DNS lookups, and outbound connectivity checks. Repair actions run only after user approval and may temporarily interrupt connectivity. Separate update checks may contact stonefernworks.com over HTTPS.
PC Repair processes Windows diagnostic, servicing, storage, and repair information locally. Approved repairs can invoke Windows components such as DISM, SFC, Windows Update services, and disk checking. Those Windows or Microsoft components may use network connections as part of their normal operation. Stonefern does not receive local PC Repair history or reports unless you choose to send them for support.
DeskLink is a network product by design. During an authorized session, paired computers may exchange connection information, input events, optional text clipboard content, and—when Extended Display is started—compressed screen frames directly with each other. Normal DeskLink sessions do not require a Stonefern account or Stonefern cloud relay. Separate update requests may contact stonefernworks.com over HTTPS.
AudioLink captures the audio of the Windows application you select and sends encoded audio directly to authorized listeners over encrypted peer connections. LAN rooms use local discovery traffic. If the host enables an Internet-capable room and the router supports automatic mapping, AudioLink may request a temporary UPnP/NAT-PMP TCP mapping and register a short-lived room fingerprint, public IP address, port, and random registration token with the Stonefern rendezvous endpoint. The secret room code is not sent to that endpoint, and Stonefern does not intentionally relay or store the room audio. A listener who can join an Internet room can learn the host public IP address because the connection is direct. Separate signed update checks may contact stonefernworks.com over HTTPS.
StreamLink connects to Twitch chat and compatible Windows media sessions to read track information and apply authorized playback commands. Twitch and optional Spotify authorization use the providers’ OAuth services. OAuth tokens are encrypted locally with Windows DPAPI for the current Windows user. StreamLink does not intentionally transmit the music audio to Stonefern; optional nowplaying.txt output remains local unless you choose to share it through another application. Separate signed update checks may contact stonefernworks.com over HTTPS.
Subtitle & Audio Cleanup analyzes and remuxes media locally with FFmpeg/FFprobe. The normal cleanup workflow does not upload your media files to Stonefern. Separate update requests or websites you explicitly open can use network connections.
3. Information Stonefern may receive
Stonefern may receive:
- Support and correspondence data: your email address, name if you choose to provide it, message content, screenshots, logs, diagnostics, media metadata, or files you intentionally send.
- Website/update network data: infrastructure providers used to route, secure, or deliver stonefernworks.com and product updates may process IP address, browser/device information, requested URL, timestamps, HTTP headers, application version/User-Agent information, and security logs.
- Aggregate download measurements: the Stonefern website server records the product, version, download source (website or in-app update), and an aggregate count when it successfully serves a Stonefern installer. These counts do not store the visitor's IP address, user-agent, account identity, or a persistent browser identifier.
- Approximate live presence: pages send a short-lived random page-session token to the Stonefern website server while the page is open so SpoonHub can show an approximate number of active visitors. The token exists only for that page visit, is held in server memory, expires automatically, and is not written to the persistent analytics file.
4. Why information is processed
Information Stonefern actually receives may be processed to operate and secure the website and update service, measure aggregate software distribution, display approximate current site activity to the site operator in SpoonHub, respond to support or legal requests, investigate bugs or security incidents, prevent abuse, comply with law, and improve Stonefern products based on information you voluntarily provide.
6. Sale, targeted advertising, and sharing
Stonefern does not sell personal data for money and does not use personal data from the current website or products for targeted advertising. Stonefern may disclose limited information to service providers that help operate hosting, domain/email, security, distribution, or support functions; to comply with law; to protect rights and security; or in connection with a business reorganization or transfer.
7. Large-language-model training
Stonefern does not use private local files, storage scans, DeskLink session contents, AudioLink room audio, StreamLink OAuth tokens or local playback data, clipboard text, display frames, or media processed locally by current Stonefern products to train large language models because that information is not received by Stonefern during normal product operation. Information you voluntarily send to support is not used for LLM training by Stonefern unless a future program separately and clearly discloses that purpose and obtains any consent required by law.
8. Retention
Stonefern keeps personal information it actually receives only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including support follow-up, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and enforcement. Aggregate installer download totals may be retained as business records because they do not contain a stored visitor identifier. Live-presence tokens are memory-only and expire within minutes. Product settings, scan history, media-cleanup history, recovery references, and similar local data may remain on your computer until you remove them; uninstalling may not automatically delete every local file.
9. Security
Stonefern uses reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the information it controls. No internet transmission, computer, network, or storage system can be guaranteed absolutely secure. If you send logs, screenshots, diagnostics, or exports to support, remove unrelated secrets or personal information where possible.
10. Privacy rights and requests
Depending on your location and whether applicable privacy law covers Stonefern’s processing, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, or opt out of certain uses of personal data. Send requests to [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
If Stonefern denies a verified privacy-rights request and applicable law provides an appeal right, reply to the decision or email the same address with the subject Privacy Appeal. Stonefern will review the appeal and respond as required by applicable law.
11. Children
The Stonefern website and current desktop utilities are not directed to children under 13 for the purpose of collecting personal information, and Stonefern does not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13 through these products.
12. Changes
The most recent update month and year appears at the top of this policy. Material changes will be reflected here and, where required, communicated in a manner reasonably designed to reach affected users before materially different processing begins.
