1. Product and release status
Stonefern AudioLink v0.1.0 is currently labeled Beta. Non-stable releases may contain defects, incomplete functionality, or compatibility problems.
2. Authorized use
Share only audio you are authorized to transmit, and connect only with listeners you trust. AudioLink does not grant rights to redistribute copyrighted, confidential, or otherwise restricted audio.
3. Selected application audio
The host chooses a Windows application to capture. AudioLink is designed to share that application audio rather than the entire system mix, but verify the selected source before starting a room.
4. Direct peer network traffic
Room audio is sent directly between the host and listeners using encrypted peer connections. A listener that can join an Internet room can necessarily learn and connect to the host public IP address and room port.
5. Internet rendezvous
Optional Internet rooms publish only a short-lived room fingerprint, public IP address, port, and random registration token to the Stonefern rendezvous service. The secret room code and audio stream are not intentionally stored or relayed by Stonefern.
6. Router mapping and firewall
AudioLink may request a temporary UPnP or NAT-PMP TCP port mapping when an Internet room starts. The Windows installer adds narrowly scoped AudioLink firewall rules. Router support and network policy can prevent Internet rooms from working.
7. Updates and beta status
Automatic update checks contact stonefernworks.com over HTTPS. AudioLink 0.1.0 is a beta release; network, device, codec, or driver differences can interrupt playback even with automatic reconnect enabled.
