1. Product and release status
Stonefern DeskLink v0.1.0 is currently labeled Beta. Non-stable releases may contain defects, incomplete functionality, or compatibility problems.
2. Authorized computers
Connect DeskLink only to computers and networks you own or are explicitly authorized to control.
3. Input forwarding
DeskLink can forward mouse and keyboard input to the paired Companion PC. Verify which computer has control before entering sensitive commands or credentials, and keep the emergency release shortcut available.
4. Clipboard privacy
When clipboard sync is enabled, copied text can be transmitted to the paired PC. Avoid copying passwords, private keys, authentication codes, or other secrets unless you intend to send them.
5. Extended Display beta
When you start Extended Display, the selected Windows display can be captured, compressed, encrypted, and shown on the paired Companion PC. Anything visible on that selected display may be visible there.
6. Virtual display boundary
Streaming an existing display does not itself create a new Windows desktop. A true additional desktop requires a compatible, properly tested, signed virtual display driver.
7. Network and updates
Normal sessions communicate directly between paired PCs and do not require a Stonefern cloud relay. Automatic update checks may separately contact stonefernworks.com over HTTPS.
